What the Stone Press Needs
Feed raw Moon Dust and Moon Sand from a Pressure Chamber into the Stone Press's separate inputs, supply 18 kW, and connect its Moonstone output to a Conveyor leading to the Depot. Split the incoming Dust before the Pressure Chamber so part reaches the press raw while the rest becomes its Sand supply.
Stone Press Recipe, Cost and Power
| Option | Details |
|---|---|
| Purchase price | $1,000 |
| Raw Moon Dust input | 1 kg per cycle |
| Moon Sand input | 1 kg per cycle |
| Moonstone output | 2 kg per cycle |
| Processing cycle | 6 seconds |
| Stone Press operating power | 18 kW |
| Pressure Chamber and Stone Press operating power | 28 kW before other connected equipment |
| Theoretical Moonstone output | 20 kg per minute with continuous inputs, sufficient power and a clear output |
| Moonstone sale value | 7 times the value of raw Moon Dust |
The recipe needs both ingredients for every cycle, so a full Sand line cannot compensate for an empty Dust line. The maximum production rate assumes continuous supplies, sufficient power and an unblocked output. Treat it as a capacity target when comparing your material queues, rather than expecting a newly connected factory to reach it immediately.
Plan Space for the Feeds and Output
Equip the Building Tool to access production and logistics construction. Identify the press's inputs, output and power connections before deciding its position. Stone Presses can span several foundations, so adjoining square foundations can support the machine's placement.
Budget for supporting equipment as well as the press itself. Conveyor connections and power infrastructure need to be ready for the machine to become useful. If your Dust stream barely keeps a Pressure Chamber working, improve that supply before committing to more processing capacity.
Connect Dust, Sand and Moonstone
- Split the incoming Dust Conveyor before it reaches the Pressure Chamber, creating separate routes for raw Dust and the material that will become Moon Sand.
- Connect the raw Dust branch directly to the Stone Press's Dust input, keeping that ingredient out of the Pressure Chamber so it remains available for the recipe.
- Feed the other Dust branch into the Pressure Chamber's inlet on the side without the handle, giving the Sand production stage a correctly directed supply.
- Connect the Pressure Chamber's Moon Sand output to the Stone Press's remaining input, completing the material route the press needs alongside its raw Dust feed.
- Connect the Stone Press's output to a Conveyor leading to the Depot, giving finished Moonstone a route out of the machine and into the selling system.
- Supply enough operating power for the connected production machines: the Stone Press and Pressure Chamber together require 28 kW before other equipment is counted.
- Watch the incoming materials at the Stone Press to confirm that raw Dust and Moon Sand are actually entering their separate inputs.
- Follow the finished Moonstone along its outgoing Conveyor to the Depot, checking that delivery produces a payout instead of leaving processed material trapped downstream.
Find Why the Stone Press Is Idle
- Only Moon Sand is arriving: Trace the raw Dust branch back to the split. Sending the entire Dust supply through the Pressure Chamber leaves the press without its raw ingredient. Restore the direct Dust feed before adding another machine.
- Only raw Dust is arriving: Follow the other branch through the Pressure Chamber. Check that Dust enters its inlet on the side without the handle. If Dust enters but no Sand appears, inspect the chamber's power and output route before changing the press.
- Both ingredients arrive but the press stays idle: Inspect operating power and the outgoing route. The Stone Press needs 18 kW. Dust and Sand waiting at its inputs are reasons to check available ingredients, electricity and whether Moonstone can leave.
- Moonstone backs up after the press: Follow the downstream Conveyor to the first queue that does not shrink. Clear a blocked route there before expanding production. Another press cannot solve a delivery line that is already blocked.
- Production stops at night: Check current generation, stored charge and connected demand. Solar output can fall to zero at night, leaving stored energy to supply the machinery. Additional solar generation restores energy while sunlight is available, so inspect the reserve as well as daytime output.
Increase Output After the Line Works
Compare the Dust and Moon Sand queues while the installation has adequate power. If an ingredient keeps running out, improve that branch before buying another Stone Press. Parallel presses help when the original press is the limiting stage and the additional machines each receive sufficient materials and power.
Moonstone sells for seven times raw Moon Dust's value, but that describes material value rather than a guaranteed profit multiplier. Compare the money the complete line delivers over the same period before expanding it. Belt-delivered Dust and stone are paid as they arrive at the deposit intake, so check the receiving route and payout when judging whether the factory is working.
